The BlackBerry Tour 9650 Teaser

Well according to CrackBerry.com yesterday Adam Zeis posted this teaser update that BlackBerry decided to don us with.  ”The BlackBerry Tour 9650 is coming.  Check back soon for official news!”  We are still in the first quarter of 2010 so Research In Motion hasn’t let us down just yet.  They are keeping true to their word of the BlackBerry Tour 9650 possibly launching in the beginning of  the year.  We will just have to see when they actually decide to give us an official release date.  Check back with us at HedoneDesign.com for more on the Tour 9650 news as it breaks.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager v5.0 is here!

No, it’s not available for download at BlackBerry.com, but it’s included in the Tour package.

The BlackBerry User Tools CD that comes with the Tour contains v5.0.0.8 of this software, so i guess it will soon be available for non-Tour-users also (the leaked version has been around for about a month now).

Attention Tour owners: Themes for 9630 NOT available yet

So, if you just bought a Tour – congratulations!

In case you came here to get a nice theme for your new BB, we have some bad news. Unfortunately, The software developers at RIM who are responsible for the theme software (Plazmic) haven’t yet released an update whitch would allow the creation of themes for the Tour. In the past, the update usually came 2 to 6 months after the phone model was available.

Since the Tour has the same screen resolution as the 8900 Curve, maybe this time it won’t take this long. We hope that this update will be available soon, so we can start creating themes for you too.

We’re back. With great news about the Tour!

So, we took a short vacation, filled our batteries and are back with lots of fresh ideas.

One of the most talked-about news in the BB world currently is the release of the Tour. Some time ago, major carriers (such as Verizon, Sprint, Bell and Telus) anaounced THE date to be July 15th. Now, things have changed:

Verizon  announced on their website, that the Tour will be for sale (on-line and in shops) as soon as July 12th! Also, it will be available in two versions: with or without the 3.2 MP camera. To pre-order your Tour visit Verizon’s website.

Furthermore, it is already confirmed, that the Tour passed FCC testing, as seen on their stamp in the picture below:

Bell and Sprint also moved the release date of this new BB, but in the wrong direction: Not sure why (and not officialy confirmed…), but their launch dates have been delayed to July 17th for Bell and July 20th for Sprint.

BB Tour news!

It’s obvious, that the launch date for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is getting closer. Yesterday, RIM announced the near launch of this model (RIM’s BB Tour-101 site), also Verizon Wireless and Sprint announced the release on their websites. Telus followed their lead today.

As you can see in the picture above, Canadian carrier Telus already confirmed the much talked-about launch date. The prices are also known for Telus users, look it up in the table below:

Sprint also put a pricetag on the new BB: “The BlackBerry Tour will be available at Sprint stores, www.sprint.com and 1-800-Sprint1 later this summer for $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. Additional savings may be available to business customers through their Sprint account manager.”  (Go to the Sprint website and check it out yourself)

Unfortunately, there is still no price-list on Verizon’s product-page.

News about upcoming BlackBerry models

Lately, there are a lot of news and rumors on the internet about the new BlackBerry models. Since it’s easy to loose focus with all the various information and sources, i put all the latest info in this post.

The BlackBerry 9630 was long known as the “Niagara”, however a while ago the name was changed to “Tour”. The BB Tour is probably the most talked-about model RIM is about to release. Tons of articles are available on the internet about it’s new features and functions. The Tour will be CDMA/EV-DO capable, have a 480×320 pixels display, a 3.2 MP camera and built-in GPS. When news about the BlackBerry 9620 started leaking, it was stated that this model will also have Wi-Fi. Apparently, RIM are about to release another model around the same time as the Tour, code-naming it the Atlas. Very few information about this model is available today (could be a HSDPA/3G Bold), but all the latest hints and leaks state the Atlas to have Wi-Fi, not the Tour. The unofficial release date of the BlackBerry 9630 is said to be July 13th, however this has not yet been confirmed.

We already wrote an article about the new BlackBerry Storm 2. Well, we got some more news. People, who have actually seen and handled the new Storm say, that the touchscreen on the new model doesen’t press in. RIM replaced the SurePress screen with a stationary, iPhone-like one. This is good news since there’s no chance for dust to come under your screen, but somehow leaves RIM without their selling-advantage. The leaked models are said to have an option to enable some type of haptic feedback, so the rumors about a new TruePress technology might be true.

You probably already read about the soon-to-be-released BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230. According to some rumors, the release date could be as soon as May or maybe June. The 8230 is a EV-DO phone, so still no 3G for Pearl users. It has a 2.0 MP camera, 128 MB built-in memory, microSD slot (expandable up to 16GB) and battery times up to 220 min usage or 216 hrs stand-by.
