Earlier today, Verizon Wireless finally made the official version of OS v5.0 available on their website.

So, with a delay of one day, the rolling-out process of OS v5.0 finally started, the BlackBerry Storm 9530 being the first device to get RIM’s new software. Fortunately, though, there is a leak (or a website-rip, to be precise) available at MegaUpload, so  you can still grab your copy of the new OS.

T-Mobile “confirms” some rumors about the Bold 9700 & OS v5.0

Yesterday, someone decided to give T-Mobile a call and got some interesting information from a BlackBerry specialist.

Apparently, they’ve already seen multiple instances of the new BB Bold 9700 and are waiting for the testing to complete. As soon as the testing period is over, the personnel training is about to start and will last approximately two weeks. The device should launch around thanksgiving, it will probably be available just before the holidays.

The specialist also told some interesting information about the new OS v5.0 for the BB Curve 8900. They are currently running some tests with devices running the new OS and it could already be released in a couple of weeks (I’m not really sure about that, since RIM want to launch the Storm 2 before rolling out OS 5.0).

Now available: Facebook 1.6.0.22, compatible with OS v5.0!

The Facebook app is very popular with a lot of BlackBerry users worldwide. Until now, Facebook for BlackBerry didn’t work properly with the available OS v5.0 leaks, forcing many BB users to downgrade to an earlier version.

It looks like RIM are getting really close to launching the official version of OS v5.0, which also means updating their existing applications. Yesterday, Facebook 1.6.0.22 was released and it actually supports the new operating system. So, if you’re already using OS v5.0, point your BB’s browser to http://mobile.blackberry.com/ (or use the download shortcut from your applications folder). BlackBerry Bold 9700 Official picture & (rumored) release date

So, this is T-Mobile’s official marketing picture for the upcoming BB 9700 Bold (previously codenamed Onyx).If you are considering buying a new BlackBerry you might want to wait till November 11th. That’s the rumored launch date of this pretty little device, according to someone working at T-Mobile. AT&T are supposedly launching the 9700 around that date too, while Rogers might put it on sale as soon as mid-to-end October. Expect some more news and rumors in the near future!
