Many useful features in the new RealPlayer: Convert any video on your PC into a BlackBerry-compatible format. You can also capture videos from video-portals such as YouTube and convert them with just a few clicks.

But, it gets better! Since space is limited on any device, it’s great to see, that you can tweak settings such as bitrate, aspect ratio and brightness. This tool even gives you the option to save your settings for a specific device using profiles.

We’re back. With great news about the Tour!

So, we took a short vacation, filled our batteries and are back with lots of fresh ideas.

One of the most talked-about news in the BB world currently is the release of the Tour. Some time ago, major carriers (such as Verizon, Sprint, Bell and Telus) anaounced THE date to be July 15th. Now, things have changed:

Verizon  announced on their website, that the Tour will be for sale (on-line and in shops) as soon as July 12th! Also, it will be available in two versions: with or without the 3.2 MP camera. To pre-order your Tour visit Verizon’s website.

Furthermore, it is already confirmed, that the Tour passed FCC testing, as seen on their stamp in the picture below:

Bell and Sprint also moved the release date of this new BB, but in the wrong direction: Not sure why (and not officialy confirmed…), but their launch dates have been delayed to July 17th for Bell and July 20th for Sprint.

BB Tour news!

It’s obvious, that the launch date for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is getting closer. Yesterday, RIM announced the near launch of this model (RIM’s BB Tour-101 site), also Verizon Wireless and Sprint announced the release on their websites. Telus followed their lead today.

As you can see in the picture above, Canadian carrier Telus already confirmed the much talked-about launch date. The prices are also known for Telus users, look it up in the table below:

Sprint also put a pricetag on the new BB: “The BlackBerry Tour will be available at Sprint stores, www.sprint.com and 1-800-Sprint1 later this summer for $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. Additional savings may be available to business customers through their Sprint account manager.”  (Go to the Sprint website and check it out yourself)

Unfortunately, there is still no price-list on Verizon’s product-page.

NEW BlackBerry Messenger preview

On friday, the BoyGenius report posted a number of pictures of the new BB Messenger. Hopefully, these pictures indicate that the new version will be released soon. With all the new OS updates coming out on a daily basis it’s about time the BBM gets an update too (last update was in December 2005).

Some of the new features we can expect are:

Avatar support — set your own avatar using the Camera or saved photo on your device (this is displayed locally as well as shown next to your Messenger name on your friend’s buddy list)
GPS location integration — you can now set permissions so friends can always see your location, have to request it each time, or never can see it
Proximity sensor — we’re guessing this will let you know if you’re within a certain distance of friends (pending, of course, you’re both set to share locations freely with each other)
Set conversation subjects — this will allow you to organize your convos on the main Messenger screen and label them with subjects to keep track of all your conversations
Homescreen support — you can pin/sticky actual Messenger contacts directly to the homescreen for easy access!

BB Desktop Manager v5.0.0.8 Leaked

Sometime last weekend a new version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager made it’s way to the interweb.

Since this package includes Roxio media manager it’s quite large (308 MB). Also keep in mind that this is a leak, so download and install at your own risk.

AppWorld about to hit Europe in July?

RIM notified an Italy-based website that AppWorld is coming to Europe. Since no furhther details are available publicly we can only guess about the exact date (rumors say July 20th).

It is not even sure in witch european countries AppWorld will be available, but still – that is great news for every BB user outside the US and Canada. I guess it’s just a matter of time until this service will be available in other areas of the world.

Leaked OS: 5.0.0.100 for Bold and Curve 8900

End of last week this version of RIM’s new OS became unoficcially available at several locations.

FREE app: ForceRadioON

Famous BB application developer Fabian Heuwieser made another great app called ForceRadioON. When your battery is drained, you get the “Battery too low for radio use” message.  This little tool forces the radio to turn back on, so you can make emergency phone calls or send a text even though that was not intended by RIM.

Great news is, that this app works on any BlackBerry and on OS versions 4.3, 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7, so you can keep draining your battery even if you don’t have the latest OS or BB model.

FREE app: LEDReset turns off LED notifications

RIMGeeks developed a nice little application for your blackberry, that does exactly what it sais: it turns off all LED notifications on your BlackBerry.

Wether you have a ghost notification (LED blinking for apparently no reason) or you just want to leave a message unread, this tool does that for you. When activated, the application turns off ALL LED notifications (including missed calls, battery indicator, bluetooth…) until the next event (e.g. missed call). Best of all, it’s FREE!

Facebook 1.6 finally released!

Attention all Facebook fans! Some time last weekend the long-awaited update to Facebook was finally released.

Since it’s announced release on May 28th was postponed nobody was sure, when the new version would finally be available for download. Some rumors stated a end-of-June / early-July release, but fortunately, it came out sooner.
